Default Porter Cable router models

Can someone clear something up for me?

I am looking at routers.

Many articles tout the 690LR & others the 9690LR.

What is the difference since the spec's appear the same?

Thanks in advance.

Could it be that one is variable speed, while the other is not?

Hello rbul1,

The only deference I found was the 9690lr comes with a carrying case. I would recommend a 690lrvs with a 6911 D-handle base. Variable speed, better control and much safer. I have a safety sub base added to mine which I purchased from Electrictool.com
