Smile Routing free hand

Though I've done some table routing, haven't done much free hand.

Question - in doing free hand, do you pull the router toward you or push away?

Hi

You can do it both ways but the norm is away from you but sometimes when you start on the edge of a board you want to plunge in just off the end of the board and than pull it to you so you get that nice clean cut on the end of the board.. , it's called a climb cut the norm..or backing up the router..but you must take care the bit will want to climb up the board the norm..
