Default Triming Deck Boards

I have just finished a mini-deck (4' x 8') and wanted to know if anyone has had experience using a straight cut router bit with a bearming to trim the overhanging boards? I was thinking that this would be better than a circular saw since the cut with a CS would have to be free hand due to position of deck.

The boards are 5/4 by 8 and I only want to trim the end of the boards so that means end grain.

Any ideas and lessons learned would be appreciated!

Skip, with a board clamped as an edge guide you can easily get a clean straight cut. Just go slow so you don't get tear out. You can wrap the board ends with masking tape for added protection against this problem.
