Unhappy Spindle spring on a Craftsman Router

Hi to all.
Iím reading and reading all the entries on this site. Trying to learn about woodworking and routing as much as possible. I did some work around the house but nothing that you Ladies and Gents are showing off here.
Congratulations to all for your work and specially for sharing your techniques and secrets.
I have few problems with a Craftsman router.
Is an old router (17460 I believe). I had a light bulb changed and for some unknown reason I played with the red switch, the one that blocks and unblocks the router, spindle lock, and I lost one of the springs. How can I replace that spring?
Second problem.
I set the bit for a cut and when it starts the motor slides down. I have to use pliers to tight it up but Iím afraid that one day something will give up. Could I change the way I tight it up/change the system?
Could someone help me?
Thank you.
Michael

Hi Michael and welcome. Check out this post, looks like there might be a manual there you can use. It should have a parts list.

EGO postulo , EGO venalicium , EGO incidere.
I measured, I marked, I cut.
Latin instructions for firewood.

Hi Michael, welcome to our little corner of the 'net.

You might start looking at Ebay, Craigslist, yardsales, or your neighbourhood flea market for one of these to scavange for parts. I'm very doubtful you will be able to find parts for it from Sears.

Welcome to the RouterForums Michael.

In woodworking there is no scrap, only firewood.

Thank you all.
I tried Sears - they don't make it anymore.
Garage sales and flea markets are my next step..... or buy a new one.
Any suggestions on a table router that has a good lucking system and under 150.00?
