Default your ideas

Hi all...i have been messin in the garage all my life from when i was young with my father till now when I have my own garage and tools...I love building and fixing whatever people have but my problem is ideas. I have built frames for pictures and boxes and the next thing is a bench top tool box with drawers problem is building something just to build needs a purpose for me question is what does everyone do with there projects after they are done do you just give them away or do you only build when there is a need? I built a small router table and jig to make box joints and i am going to us that on my tool box but after that nothing is on the horizon to build...any help?

Christmas gifts people love hand made things, birthday also, make some stuff to sell throw it on craigslist its free, ask the wife and family if there is anything they would need or want is pretty much how I keep busy with things to build.

Dont forget to live life for fear of death grasp each day and live it to it full otherwise it is pointless.

Hey Brian..

plenty of things you can build for around the shop. I like to try new or just improve on techniques, joinery, methods, design etc.. I'll try and take ordinary shop jigs to the next level, via appearance and/or functionality. always trying to make due with scraps and materials left over from previous projects. Tablesaw sleds, shooting boards, bench hooks are all handy items to have. Tool boxes and tool cabinets are another area where you can refine your skills while making good use of your time in the shop. Making your own tools is another area where I've found alot of enjoyment. Recently finished up my first backsaw. There's nothing quite like using a tool you've made yourself.

just about all of my 'projects' are purpose driven. requests by friends and family for something particular or gifts to be given away.

remember there are picture frames and boxes, then's there's Picture Frames and Boxes!!!

Sounds like you don't have a wife.

If you have craft shows in your area, attend a few to see what people are selling. You'd be surprised at what people buy. Here's a list of things:
End table
low stool, high stool
chopping board
kitchen spoon(s)
foot stool
medicine chest
kids toy chest
dog house
planter boxes
plant stand
bird house
bird feeder
computer monitor stand
