Default Bosch 1617 EVS router guide bushing advice

I have the above router and bushing set with a 1/4 spiral cut router bit. I would like to route out a depression to mount these drawer pulls (I made them). The base is rectangular and roughly 1 1/2" x 4 1/4 inches and is 1/4" deep. My plan is to make a template to route out the depression and practice on plywood before I attempt the Honduran mahogany drawer fronts.

Any advice?

Answered my own question by buying a 1/4" DOWNCUT spiral bit. It made a fine edge with no tearout on the top surface.

Mark,

When I read your post I was unsure what you were asking. I assumed you were asking advice on mounting inlaid drawer pulls. Never having done that, I did not comment.

Others may have been unsure too? Welcome aboard..

Jim

I was worried about ruining solid mahogany drawer faces. After a bit more time thinking the confidence allowed me to route out the mortises smoothly with a 1/4" spiral bit and a template. DONE
