Default 1/4 Router Extension

Hi everyone. Just joined this forum and I need some help. I have a router with a 1/4" collet and I am looking for an extension about 2 -3 inches long that will except a 1/4" shank piece I have. So a 1/4" to 1/4". I have seen some made that will except a 1/4" shank piece but is for a 1/2" collet only. If this item is even made, does anyone know where I can purchase one? Thank you for the help.

To be honest I don't believe they make one. In my opinion that would be a very dangerous extension especially with a 1/4" collet.

Just out of curiosity what are you trying to do? Maybe there's another solution.

Try this, it's worked for me for years with no safety issues:
http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shops...er_collet.html. I have the 1/2" version and there is a slight bit of runout but acceptable. I run 3 1/2" panel raising bits with a PC 7518 with no problem.

This is an usafe idea, thus none are available. Buy a longer bit, or change to a thin metal plate if using in a tableset up.

Agreed, not acceptable and therefore not available for 1/4" collet routers.

" MLCS Router Collet Extension"

"For 1/2" collet routers! Give your router bits an additional 2-1/4" (for #9465 or 2" for #9473) when you extend them through the router table top with our router collet extension.
Eliminate the dangerous temptation of withdrawing the shank from the collet in order to raise the bit and to "provide the full depth of cut."
The router collet extension makes it possible to use all diameters of 1/2" and 1/4" shank bits safely.
Place the router collet extension shank in the 1/2" router collet and the router bit shank in the extension collet and tighten both.
Wrenches and instructions included. Note that for previously sold item's #9464 and #9468 the large diameter is the same as in the chart below.
NOTE: Will not work with 1/4" collet routers."

BUT I will say if there is away there is way..the one below is 1/4" routers and a way to use 1/2" shanks bits..
