Default 7518 help needed

I have a porter cable 7518 mounted in my router table and it seems that a sliver of wood got in to it and busted all the fins on the motors cooling fan. I have managed to take the router apart down to the large aluminum base and the shaft but I can not figure how to get the nut that hold the bit collet on the shaft taken off the shaft without damage to either. Has anybody had to do this that can throw some light on my problem?

I figured this out myself so I thought I would post to let others know how. That nut is normal right handed threads so what I did was to put on a leather glove and hold the armature shaft with one hand then take a 1/2 impact gun with a socket and zip, the nut came right off with no damage to either.

That's the trick, have had to do it myself. Others here told me the method and I was skeptical, but it worked! How much will the fan set you back?
