Default Centering Pin????

This is part gloat and part question. I recently picked up a Bosch plunge router base on CL for $30. It came with a few extra parts and a hard plastic case. It has a Centering pin that I am not sure what it is for. The guy who sold it to me was not sure either. All I can figure is that it is easy to make a sub base using the centering tool. Any ideas?

Were there any bushings with it? A few years back (when I bought mine) Amazon had a special for a Bosch 1617, that included three template bushings and the centering pin.

I got a centering pin in one router and it was for centering the insert plate.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

Good answer Chuck. Note that there are 3 different styles of centering devices for the 1617. You can download the manual in our reference section for full instructions. The black centering device is used for centering the newest versions sub base plate which is adjustable for perfect alignment; it also works with the new MR23.

I only have images of two, will edit and add the third soon.
