Default Mods? Manual submission failure...

This is only round-a-bout router related. Manuals --> Which this area is slated as a backup discussion area for...

There is one entry under Manuals/Freud Tools as 2200E. I'm thinking that's Freud's 3 1/4 hp router model # FT2200E... The submitter said the pdf never uploaded.

Since I have all 3 of their router manuals in PDF format, I thought I'd upload that manual. NO GO = "upload failure." (at the server) My server logs show the transmission was going fine until there was an error on the forum's end. The forum's Manage Attachment screen returns the message "upload failure."

On some forums, their host servers have certain upload size limitations based on uploaded file types. This forums host server says that the size limit on uploaded pdf's is 10 MB.

That explains why this manual is not getting uploaded. This manual is a little over 3.2 GB. Does that server setting need to be changed for pdf files to include large manuals? Or is there another problem going on?

Mike,

3.2G is a huge file...

How many thousand pages is the manual?

It's only 48 pages. 24 in english, 24 in french.

Does seem like it should be that size. I wonder if I "changed it" by deleting the french pages and republishing it. I've never tried to do that, but that might help shrink it.

EDIT-- Ew. Thought I could do it by copying it page by page. I'll see but no guarantees.

There is no way that I could see only 48 pages would be 3.2GB.

I just checked the guide for one of my video cameras. It is 160 small pages and is only 4,437 kb.

I also just tried to upload a manual for a GMC table saw (20 pages) and it also failed...3,374 kb. There may be a server issue rather than the size of the file, although I still feel that 3.2Gb is not correct for the manual..

Is it a PDF file?

Sorry. it's 3.2 MB.

Took abobe reader X snapshots of each page. Cut and paste. Resized each to fit. Only copied the english section of the manual. (was 3 other languages) Compiled it with a publish at minimum size option. Got it slimmed down to just under 2MB.

Will try again.

EDIT--

Worked. Uploaded.

Does that mean there might be a problem somewhere on uploading above 2 MB?

I noticed this same problem the other day with jpeg pictures. I had to upload 3-4 at a time, instead of all at once.

One thing at a time Mike. I had no problem uploading the Bosch 1615 manual which is 3.9M, but that was on the old server. Email me the PDF and let me try loading it.

Photos used on the web should be 640 x 480 which runs about 45K. Have you resized your photos for web use? If you need an easy to use program for working with photos I recommend Irfanview which is free to download and use.

Mike, I have been unable to upload manuals as well, since the server change. Have had to post links for a couple of members!

I made Nathan aware of this and it is fixed. I uploaded the Freud manual.
