Default Cool Tool

Hey guys check this out. It's called a router buddy. Any opinions? Looks pretty neat.

Looks neat but I have some reservations about it. I will wait for others to respond before fully explaining my reservations.

Hi George II

Neat tool,,, I think someone on the forum did pickup one and used it on a table top to put in a slot for lights...(RC table top I think)

BUT I don't get it, most routers come with a fence and if you need a fence that's a bit round one could just cut one out of some hardwood and screw it the fence and have about the same thing..plus most can be used as a circle cutter and it has two points of contact to the router base unlike this one with just one..plus it's bit offset from center.that would be a bit tricky to cut a circle

But that's just my 2 cents

I guess it has it's place but not in my shop. I never buy an accessory that I can make. Not to be tight with the bucks but just the satisfaction of getting the job done with my head and hands. There are a lot of things we just don't need but they are neat.

The main reason I thought it was kinda neat was I am thinking I can make one. I do have the need to tinker with things. I guess that is what retirement does.

Hang in there lads.

It's winter here in the Northeast US. Rather than a "Router Buddy" a "Router Blanket" might be more appropriate. It doesn't look like it would add anything to what most of us can do without it. But, if you are one of those accessory junkies - have at it - ya never know it might come in handy some day. smile
