Default Freud FT 2000 problem

I lost the 1/2 inch collet and collet nut to my Freud ft2000 plunge router. I bought replacements through Bosch. The nut threads onto the bore fine, but, when I insert a 1/2 in bit into the collet, the nut can't quite reach the threads of the bore. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum N/a. I had one of those and it seems to me that the collet "snapped" into the nut. If you take both off, stick the collet into the nut and see if it sits flush against the end of the nut (the outer opening that is). If it doesn't then that is probably what's wrong.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Seems strange that the new ones would give such a problem.

You can also try sticking the collet by itself into the shaft recess. I should sit just above flush or flush. If it sticks out farther than that then it is probably the wrong one.
