Default ready for new dovetail jig

Was trying to decide on which dovetail jig to buy, leigh or akeda. Decided on akeda called to order, guess what not available. Talked to akeda said they where trying to find a different manufacturer or company to produce the jigs. Could be out 4-6 months. One interesting note, I said was from Iowa he asked if I was close to huxley, IA. He brought up Kreg Jigs was there. maybe something to it ???

Your choice depends a lot on what you actually want to do with the jig, Scott. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of variations on the theme. Some bench-mounted, some designed for router-table use. If you want to use the jig with a hand-held router, I'd suggest looking at both Leigh and Porter Cable. If you have the space, the Porter Cable OmniJig (new, not the old ones found second-hand) is a good choice. The Leigh DR4 is smaller and lighter, but lacks some of the convenient features of the OmniJig.
