Default Sliding Mortise Jig Ver.2

Well if you're wondering why I built another sliding mortising jig, here's my reason, it's not that it could not do the job, it did very well in the testing phase of back to back 25 mortise cuts, in the learning curve I realized something... I shoud have placed the guide handle in the middle instead of the back of the jig causing minor problems with the glide action. I also felt some extra wieght over all would help with how smooth the jig would slide forward and back.

Well back to the drawing board again, this time I think I nailed it.

This jig glides silky smooth even after another 25 mortise cuts and my wrist is not ready to fall off, the extra wieght and relocating the handle sure made this jig easier to use. I also figured I would make it look factory built rather then the raw MDF look. Here's the pictures of the build.

Cheers
Glen

That looks really professional. Well done. Nicely integrated into the Incra fence too. Do you lower the stock into the bit, or crank the router up into the mortise?
