An interesting design David. I use a home made jig to guide my router or circular saw on sheet goods. The jig is a piece of Masonite with a 1" x 2" glued in the center. On one side I ran my circular saw to trim off the excess, on the other side I ran my router to trim it off. This provides a smooth surface for the tools to ride on and the edge shows exactly where the cut will be made. A C clamp on each end of the 1" x 2" secures it in place.
