Default Need help

I am making a Guitar, How would a person mortise an long oval shape....it needs to be exact.
This is the metal plate, and it needs to sit flush into the wood.. i am only doing it once.. If i could follow this shape, of the plate it would be too big

MLCS router inlay set

You'll need a router inlay kit, they're pretty cheap. You'll use the original piece as a pattern to make the template you need to rout the hole.

Practice a few times first!

Rick,

Click the link in my post. You'll see the inlay kit, and a set of instructions.

I can't remember the episode of Router Workshop, but they use one to put a tile in the lid of a box, that might be worth looking up. episode 801
