Default Pc 4212

Saw the PC 4212 dovetail jig advertised for $148. Is it a good price? And is the jig itself OK? Thanks

I bought my PC 4212 from Woodcraft and paid $179.00 for it. I really didn't shop around but bought it on a whim. I have since upgraded it to a 4216. I know Amazon was selling the 4216 for $179.00 at one time so that may be a better deal overall. The 4216 includes a template for mini dovetails and box joints (1/4"). I paid around $90.00 for the mini template alone.

Now to your original question. I think $148.00 is a good deal and I do like my PC jig. To me it wasn't as difficult to set up as some people would lead you to believe either.

This price is good for a 4212. Just for a 4210 (comes with half blind/dado template) at Lowes it is $119.00. Add the 4213 Through Dovetail / Box Joint Template kit which costs around another $60.00. I have the 4216 which has all the templates. The base is the same for all models 4210 thru 4216. Yhe different parts numbers just tells what templates it comes with. Template are also available separately if you need them.

Hey Frank...

the PC 4200 series of jigs are rock solid...a moderate learning curve for the basics, nothing an afternoon and a little scrap wood can't resolve. The price is fair enough, but if you can do the ebay thing, you can save another 20-30 bucks.

Thanks for all of the replies. Further checking from the link provided shows the 4216 for $178 w/free shipping. That has all of the templates available for that jig? The Craftsman jig is almost all plastic, and has a few nicks in the templates, but I've used it sucessfully for years (decades actually). I'm thinking that it's time to upgrade.

Yes the 4216 has all the templates available for 4200 series jig. You can get it for $178.00 and I have over well $200.00 dollars in mine because like an idiot I bought my templates separate. Also I found the learning curve for the jig is quite easy, even for an idiot.
