Default Dovetail jig/bit question

Hello. I have just bought a dovetail jig, nothing fancy but good for a start. Now I am looking around to buy a dovetail bit with bearing to guide it in the jig. Now I am aware of the different depths that dovetail bits have and so I am not sure what bit to by (re depth I mean) Will bit depth create a true dovetail joint or this has nothing to do with it?
