Not familiar with the Rockler jig, but do have the PC 4216 Jig which I really like. To me it is/was very simple to get the hang of and after a couple of practice runs was able to cut usable dovetails. Something that has been mentioned in the forum several times is the lack of help the PC manual gives. The manual that came with my jig is very straight forward and helpful to the point a 3 year old could understand it from my point of view. The jig itself is also scribed with instructions, stock alignment marks and abbreviated setup plans on the end of the jig.

Another nice thing about the 4200 series jig is the availability of an online PDF File for a 42 page Supplemental Manual with instructions on how to rout various and different ways to cut decorative dovetails and box joints as well as bit usage charts, etc. It can be had from the PC web site following the links to the 4200 series Jig page.

Just my less than 2 cents worth and you will find varying opinions as to which dovetail jig is the best, but in the end you have the deciding opinion.

When something is advertised as being foolproof there is always a better class of fool that comes along to prove them wrong.

Hi Dirk.
I also use a 4216 PC jig. It's not that hard to understand.

Thanks for the link folks!!! The instruction manual that came with my 4212 was nowhere near as detailed, this PDF is now in my file for referencing for when I do my next dovetail project. I like the PC fixture, but like everything else, sometimes I think maybe I should have gotten the next size bigger....JUST IN CASE I ever need it.
