Default New member wind generator blades.

Just saying hi as a new member. I live in northern Alberta Canada. I am not quite at the end of the earth up here but i can see it from here!

I am not sure of what topics are discussed yet but I would like to know if anyone has constructed a jig for a router for roughing out wind generator blades? Or purhaps on a table saw, radial saw etc.

Welcome!
Sure you will find help from people here.

Thought you need to have all your wind blades identical for vibrations.
Maybe you could have a look on machines that makes 3d copies of the first model
you make.
There are quite a few on youtube , even seen a fairly big one made of wood beams.
This is just the idea

James, If you research the blades and come up with a simple shape that works you can create a pattern and use it to make exact duplicates.

Hi James,

Haven't done that before, but considering making a small wind generator for my cottage lot. How big of a generator are you planning on making? Horizontal or vertical?

Welcome to the forums James,

Haven't at the wind thing to much yet, but have looked at the solar systems. a lot 10KW sytems are popping up around here as Ontario Hydro (Hydro 1 now) is offering $.82/KW (government funded of course-scary!).

Hi James,
Also living in northern Ab. near Peace River. I haven't seen any plans for windturbine blades but airplane propellers were all made from wood at one time. Maybe that is a place to start looking.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.
