Default How to build a Router Ski ?

I saw Harry's video on building his router ski and it looks great. Except for one thing - I don't have any way of making the metal rods. Is there a alternative way to make a ski out of wood?

I have two slabs from a white oak tree that are approx 2 inches thick that were cut with a chain saw. They are approx 16 inches in diameter. I would like to square up both sides and make lazy susans out of them.

Any pointers greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

Look at the heading "Jigs and fixtures" near the top is a thread "Sticky: Plywood ski jig
Mike" that does not use metal rods but baltic birch plywood and can be addapted to any situation.

Well, DUH! I have seen that before, but not last night when I was looking! :-(

I will have to study the pics and description a little more. Might have to make it bigger to span 20 inches of cutting width.
Thanks.

Many members led By Bobj3 use allthread which I have no doubt works OK but isn't as elegant as bright mild steel!
