Default Katie/Sommerfield Jig ? on Variably Spaced DT

I am confused on the Katie jig... I plan on getting the forks so I can have a easy to use variably through DT jig.

When I watch the video he for some reason uses both sides and stops for the DT cuts (and pins) .. If you push the side with a perfect cut width for half pins to the right stop for a fixed setup why would you have to go to the left? Wouldn't that right side be symmetrical for all the DT sides pieces?

The video confuses me because if I wanted to say create a variable pattern on a 6" board with half pins, I will align the forks for the half pins and create my pattern within it. I would set the right stop for all the pieces. If I set the left stop to the pattern it would just trap the board be against the right stop. I could not use the board all the way across the left side because the pattern is different and not set up there since it is no longer fixed.

I know this sounds confusing but I just feel like I am missing something. With a keller jig you set up a right stop and just run the pieces of that single stop, no using the far left stop on some pieces and others up on the right stop.

TIA for any help,

Thanks, wonder if that is the full manual or just for the handles?
