Default Gravity Powered Go Kart

http://www.routerforums.com/kp91s-ga...tml#post571889

Last summer's science fair project was a "research project" for my youngest who wanted to figure out the best bearings for a go Kart she wanted to build.

During the summer she designed and started construction, this winter we finished everything up. It still has a ways to go (constant tweaking of the design), but it works. I think we may need to replace the 'cool looking' knobby tires with something with a little less drag. Mom wants a better means of braking.

Today they were sent home from school early due to electrical problems in the building, so she spent the afternoon taking the first runs down the hill. {now, do I tempt her to add an electric motor or a gas engine???}

That's real cool. Who is proudest? You of her or her of the go cart. Either way real cool.

There are snapshots of life that we carry with us for a lifetime. I do believe you may have just created one Doug.

Doug,
Why not encourage her further to build an official SOAP BOX DERBY CAR and enter the annual soap box derby races here in AKRON OHIO? Looks like she has the talent to be a real winner in that event. Run a Google search for all the DERBY details. Many of the past winners are female.

This certainly brings back memories . I had a great time as a kid building go karts . At the time I had to forage for what parts I could , so they went overly technical , but I had a gas so that's all that matters .
Your daughter built one heck of a go cart , very cool. That steering system is certainly light years ahead of the ropes I used to steer with lol

I don’t always insulate , but when I do .
Ok ,I never insulate

You might have a future engineer on your hands.
