Default Atlanta area Get-Together

WOW...... What a great afternoon!

One of our newer members xplorx4 (Jerry) worked up a small meet at his house with Petersenj20 (Joe) and myself. Jerry's hospitality is 2nd to none. He showed us his tools, projects and plans for his future shop. We hashed over his new Jointer and how to make adjustments and tuning the table and safety aspects of using the jointer. He has put together a spectacular router table and fence and it is still a WIP with even more plans in the making. He has done some very nice refinishing jobs around his house and a has a stack of projects waiting for his finishing talents to be applied.

No pictures on this first meet, but we will provide some from future meets we have planned. Next time we will meet at Joe's and do some hands on making of sawdust. Joe is a great and knowledgable guy and I look forward to seeing his shop. After that we will meet at my shop and who knows what we will get into there

Anyone in the Atlanta area that would like to become part of this fun and future activities is welcome to contact any of the 3 of us for a schedule of what will be happenining and when. We are hoping to include a breakfast or lunch outing as well as a possible field trip to the toy stores or a woodworking show. We are thinking of maybe a monthly or 6 week interval between events and the events will only be for 2-3 hours just to keep time in line with personal lives and priorities. Jerry has voluteered to kind of head this up and arrive at schedules that will work for all involved.

We have seen how much fun Mike and the MI gang has been having doing this sort of thing and thought it would be good to have a GA group that could enjoy the same benefits.

Let us know if you would like to participate and we would love to have you join us. It was a wonderful afternoon and I can't wait to do it again. Not many things better than woodworkers hanging out and enjoying what they have in common sharing ideas and experiences.

I will ditto that, it is good to put a face with a name and just enjoy the time. What you can learn on the forum is great, but face to face you get to put hands on the wood or tool and for me as a beginner, having friends like Bob and Joe with their experience is better. If you live in the Atlanta area, just get in touch and join us next get together.

I had a nice time meeting with you guys today. Jerry was a gracious host.
I look forward to meeting again. I just hope I can present something more than mom will love.

I am glad to see the idea catching on. We are somewhat limited by our cold weather and are not making much sawdust as a group until it gets warmer, just not enough room in any of our shops. We are working on a road trip that should interest many forum members, details will be posted soon. We all enjoy sharing each others knowledge and there is a good amount of humor added to complete the mix.
