Default The Good Bad and the Ugly

The Bad.....
woke up this morning wife says we might need a new dryer, I look at it and sure enough, the stainless steel drum is all cracked around the outer edge near door. natural gas dryer was about 9 years old no sense getting it fixed so we go on line and look at Lowes and Home Depot, don't need a real fancy one so look at close to entry level models.
The Good....
Oh look Lowes has a sale on (20% off ALL appliances) hmm ok look at Home Depot and sure enough they have a model the same as Lowes but $75 more. ok let's go to Home Depot and price match it..

The ugly....
we get to HD and go straight to appliances, young guy there is looking at the ceiling bored out of his tree.....I ask him Hi do you have model XXXX in stock if not I would like to order one.
He says one sec and walks away.............................15 minutes later I see another employee walking down the isle and ask him can you find someone to help us as he was carrying a walkie talkie he says sure............15 minutes later again nothing.......so I say to wife let's just go to customer service and just order it......well we get there and there are a couple people in front of us, so while we are waiting we see the second guy telling the first guy about us and look right at us but do nothing..........( we were only about 20 feet away) .......then the second guy comes close to the customer service desk and the young girl working asks him if he could help her out by dealing with us ...........as he comes even closer to the desk I say I would like to order a gas dryer I know the model number blah blah blah..........he freaks and yells this to me ......STAY RIGHT HERE I WILL GET SOMEONE FROM APPLIANCES TO HELP YOU BECAUSE YOU JUST CAN'T ORDER WHATEVER YOU WANT WHEREVER YOU WANT THERE ARE SPECIAL FORMS FOR APPLIANCES> >>>> IT IS PRETTY HARD TO HELP YOU IF YOU DON:T STAY STILL.... I'm talking yelling this at me like I was a 8 yrs old kid, I say you know what you little #$%^$, we came in here almost 45 minutes ago now to buy a dryer knowing what we wanted and between you and the airhead partner of your are both useless waste of time. we will go to LOWES go $%#^& yourself. get outside I phone the general manager of the store as we drive across the parking lot. I explain to him about how the guy screamed at me and he said please come back and I will deal with you personally........take a look at the invoice....

Geez, they can scream at me all they want for deals like that !
In Home Depot’s defence , I have had nothing but good experiences there . I would say every employee at ours goes above and beyond , and very personable.
To bad there’s a few bad apples at other branches . I suspect that kid got the riot act read to him

I donít always insulate , but when I do .
Ok ,I never insulate

I have had nothing but bad experiences dealing with Home Depot, the few time I went there. So now I will only go there to pickup Home Depot yardsticks, when I run out, for cane making. Any dealings on anything else takes place at Lowes, where I have never had any bad experiences.

That's OK, I only made one Home Despicable cane anyway. Much more fun to take a Lowes cane to Lowes, and have them scan it at the register. It always surprises them when it scans.

Good job Tony! I'm surprised you got a discount like that at a HD store here in the Great White North. I know I'd never get one at the store here.

The last time I walked in to a HD, I was pricing out insulation and plywood for our attic. I had been to Lowe's, and wanted to price compare. While at Lowe's, I was barely in the aisle, when a gentleman walked up, asked if he could help, and I was in and out in no time flat. I walk into HD, and was looking around. Not one, but two, maybe three guys saw me, completely ignored me, and walked directly to two guys who had come in AFTER me, and started kissin their @$$e$ for whatever they could find for them. When he was done, he went outside, and was doing who-knows-what. I happened to be on the phone with Ken at this point, and made sure I said loudly "Guess I'll take my money to Lowe's, where I get some sort of assistance." Needless to say, I was a bit miffed at the whole situation.

Originally Bismarck had a small Menards located in a shopping mall. They decided to build a large one. Lowes built in a new shopping center. Home Depot built their own free standing place. I don't remember the sequence of the 3 box stores coming into existence but any way there were 3.
Home Depot closed their store several years when they had the large scale closings and sold their building. Now there are 2.
I use Lowe's primarily because of the forever 10% military discount which is automatic when I scan my Lowes card and use Menards when Lowes doesn't have what I want.
I am satisfied with both stores and don't miss Home Depot at all.
