Default Old age

Some senior citizens are being criticized for the present deficiencies of our modern world; real or imaginary, present or past, foreign or domestic.
We take responsibility for all our actions and omissions; we do not try to blame others for our past imperfections, ignorance or failures.
Our generation saved the World from Fascism, and Racism, while we raised the Standard of Living, Health Care, and Life Expectancy.
HOWEVER, upon reflection, we would like to point out that it was NOT senior citizens who took:
The melody out of music,
The pride out of appearance,
The courtesy out of driving,
The romance out of love,
The commitment out of marriage,
The responsibility out of parenthood,
The togetherness out of the family,
The learning out of education,
The service out of patriotism,
The civility out of behavior,
The refinement out of language,
The dedication out of employment,
The prudence out of spending,
And we certainly are NOT the ones who eliminated patience and tolerance from personal relationships, and interactions with others on a face to face basis!!
And, we DO understand the meaning of patriotism, and remember those who have fought and died for our country.
YES, I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN !
I'm the life of the party . . . Even if it lasts until 8 p.m
I'm very good at opening childproof caps . . .
With a hammer!
I'm awake many hours before my body allows me to get up.
I'm smiling all the time, because I can't hear a thing you're saying.
I'm sure everything I can't find is in a safe secure place, somewhere.
I'm wrinkled, saggy, lumpy, and that's just my right leg; but I haven't made my skin look like wallpaper or snake skin.
My ears, nose, tongue, or naval haven't been pieced with metal rings.
I'm beginning to realize that ageing is not for wimps.
Yes, I'm a SENIOR CITIZEN, and I think I am having the time of my life!
Now if I could only remember who sent this to me, I wouldn't send it back to them.
Or, maybe I should send it to all my friends anyway.
They won't remember, even if they did send it.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

The loss of civility is incredible, isn't it? If you differ in your views, you will be treated with hostility, even hate. We used to only do that in our day to our military enemies and people of different creeds and colors. Some thing are better now, some things are worse. Mostly, things are just different. Our main strength as seniors is that we always vote.

Harry, when I read items like this, I realize how great it was for me to have lived in an era that was so full of a good life. I am glad to know that what lies ahead, I will not have to see or endure. However, I have a fear for my children and my grandchildren. The turmoil of life today as compared to fifty or seventy years ago is frighting to me, to say the least. Life has been good to me and my family. I appreciate all those who I can call a friend.

I like it Harry, but I will comment the following about SOME not ALL seniors;

I have known too many that consumed enough alcohol for the next three generations !! my father and father in law and they both used to drink and drive and according to them it was OK !

Many seniors don't give a hoot about pollution or recycling.

Why do most seniors not like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and ....most 70s rock music, I had to listen to my parents when they played Polkas and every Irish song there was ! My mom named Daniel for the song ''Oh Danny Boy''

And why do senior cooks make things great until about 10 years before they think their time is up and then turn to ''health food''

Well I guess being almost 60 means that I will soon be a Senior also, and my kids don't like my music either ! LOL

My Dad used to say that the golden years are a myth. I'm beginning to think that he knew what he was talking about.
