Default It should be simple...

When I post a picture here I always first upload the file to a third-party host and then to here. The files are always on my computer, so I should be able to drag and drop but for the life of me I cannot make that work. I was blaming it on using a Chromebook, but now I'm on a Windows (10) computer and still can't make it work. For my benifit, and perhaps some others, would someone please tell me how to do that simple task?

see where it says ''drag files here to attach'' below the reply window...
drop them there in the space provided...

I have Windows 7, not sure how different that is from 10 but - all my photos are in "Libraries/Pictures" on my HD, in separate folders by subject (Drill Press Cabinet, M/C Trip to FL, etc.) and I just open the folder and drag and drop each photo to the box that says "DRAG FILES HERE TO ATTACH!" Hope this helps.

I use a slightly different method, preferring to Browse to my folder and Upload them on the Advanced tab. Use the Paper Clip, Browse to your folder, choose the photo, hit Upload. Then choose the next one, etc. I like to keep them in order and this is a more orderly way (for me and my OCD) but it's also very easy to do.

Once your photo is uploaded you can click in this Message area wherever you want the photo, then hit the drop down arrow beside the paper clip, choose your photo and it will insert exactly where you want it in the message.

You can then hit Preview Post below this Message field and see if it looks like you want.

I do it the way stick mentioned. I reduce the forum window and have another window open where my pictures are located so that both windows are open. Then I simply click on the picture I want to attach and drag it into the window that says "Drag and Drop File Upload". It's located just under the "Quick Reply" window.

I see where to drag it to, what I haven't been able to do is the simple act of dragging.
I just discovered why I couldn't do it... the photos that I've been trying to drag were not actually on my computer because I generally use Google drive (pretty much no other option with a Chromebook). I just tried it on a random photo that is actually on the HD of this computer and it worked.
Thanks, Guys!

Ken, I upload my pictures to (IMGUR). They are free and have no ads and easy to use. I also connect my camera to my computer and do it that way. I use to use Photo Bucket and I hated it so when someone suggested IMGUR I jumped on it. That was maybe five years ago. Keep messing with it and you will find away that you like.

PS- Hey turn your camera around, your picture is sideways.

Any photos I post are on my computer. When I am posting I just go down to manage attachments and go from there. Most photos I post are on my computer because I saved them for inspiration. On some occasions I will search for a specific photo, save it, post it, then discard it. I do not like some of those sites that save photos, because after awhile, a lot of those photos disappear. Making it impossible to follow a thread with directions on how something was done.

Thanks David. A nice simple explanation of how to add photos to your text rather than all at the end, I'll have to try to remember this. I tried adding captions to a bunch of photos - I think the rebuild of the back door jambs - messed it all up, got frustrated and deleted them - all without saving the originals first. Duh.
