Just sayin'...
Stick mentioned home invasion of the technical variety, in another thread this morning:

Well, further to that issue:
" Other tests have found smart TVs can track what consumers watch and collect data on their viewing habits. And don’t forget about built in cameras for things like Skype.
Anytime we have a camera that is pointed into our home be careful. Mark Zuckerberg with Facebook covers his camera, you may want to too,” warned technology analyst Carmi Levy

I've noticed the little blue light on my peripheral camera winks on occasionally; I've started using the lens cap again.

I've always physically turned my camera away so it points toward dark drapes on the window. I wonder if there's some software that would pop up if the camera goes on? As to privacy, if you go on any of the big sites, just about everything about you in knows and resides in a data mining operation. I almost never buy anything that shows up as an unsolicites popup or ad. My data isn't worth mining. I've taken to buying stuff at local stores where they don't really know who I am. It's not that I have anything to hide, it's just that I don't want to feed the low life marketeers who do this.

The more I do, the less I accomplish.

Golly...can the built in camera on my computer be remotely activated? How would I be able to tell? We've never used it for any communications or anything else.
Tape seems to be a good idea in any case.
And, 95% of our shopping for other than food, is done online. Well, Ace still gets my business. But, that and the grocery store is about it for local purchases. Truth be known, besides Ace, the grocery store, the Dollar store and Wal*Mart, there ain't nuttin else.
Other than some spam emails, I haven't seen anything troubling. But then, I'd probably not know till it was too late.

Like god is watching us.
(For those who believe).

Welcome to Big brother!

Like in an antique Greek tragedy all happens in one place, all is visible .

Except that it takes more than one day.

My wife put tape over the camera on her computer and mine is a desktop, so no camera.

I'll never forget that a certain country(company) stole the submarine silent running technology from the U.S. when they were our allies. A Canadian friend had a patented tech. stolen which ruined his chances of having a secure financial future & I'm sure many others of the Forum can add to these. Excuse me while I tape the camera on my laptop, not that I'd have anything worth pinching.Jamesjj

The lid is closed on my laptop. I have a video cable attached to a 22 inch monitor.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
