Wow talk about playing dodge the tree! Luckily the guy didn’t panic and watched as it changed directions all over the place .

I'll pass. There are some people, the ones who do bungee jumping, hang from tall buildings with no safety harness, etc., because they want a "adrenaline rush". I think if one of those num nums cut down a tree and it did that, they'd stop yapping about wanting a "adrenaline rush". Me, I can get more of a adrenaline rush than I want by driving on the Raleigh beltline during rush hour.

I've seen this one before. He didn't put nearly enough undercut in the tree. The undercut should be about 35% of the diameter of the tree. That was about 20%.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

His slipping and falling was like one of those nightmares where you can't get away from some threat. interesting video.

You are right Chuck, he made a mistake, you can see on the vidio where the tree tried to go but bound up on the undercut. That was sure a small undercut for a tree that size. Those old dead trees are really unpredictable.

I bet bungee jumping is safer than logging.

It looked like the tree was really after him, falling in whichever way that it could to get him.
I agree with Chuck. He didn't undercut deep enough. If he had he would also have discovered how rotten the core of the tree was too.
