Default Home Depot Secrets

This is an item I borrowed from another forum that might be of value to some of you woodworkers. Might even save you some money. Some of the tips you know , some might give some insight on how to better shop Home Depot.

one time is all it takes at a HD around here...
once you have an experience w/ the floor help, CS or a special order and you won't return unless you are a glutton for punishment...

Got that right. No good experiences with HD.

I do not shop at HD. I went to to HD for a warranty claim for a Ryobi 18V Li battery. They pulled a card from a file and told me it was only warrantied for 90 days. The owner's manual said- 90 days for commercial use, 1 year for personal use. I can read and give me some time and I'll translate it from the Spanish. The MOD was very astute- she said I was unhappy! Yes, and I told her I would never set foot in any HD again. I find everything I need at Lowe's and our local Ace Hardware store has things that Lowe's doesn't carry.

I saw that list of "secrets" the other day and had to have a chuckle. The only secret they didn't mention was trying to find someone to help you while you're in HD. I much prefer Lowes as their CS is head and shoulders over the BORG

Some folks call me Vince - other folks call me...........

I stay away from HD. Do all my shopping at the local ACE store.

In my town the HD and Lowes are across the street from one another and they go back and forth as far as customer service goes. Overall I like Home Depot the best.

I think HD is trying to put on a better face at my local store anyway. I needed and outdoor electrical box. The white ones were still marked at the 'old' price on the shelf. Not willing to pay $3 extra for the grey, I took white. At the cash it rang in at the new price, I told the cashier, he changed it without any checking. I've wanted a lawn spreader for a while, took in an ad from Lowes and they beat the price by 10% ($4.50). Considering that HD is closer to me, I probably won't be buying Lowes sale items from Lowes any more.
