Default Here is a nice weekend project

A couple of times it looked like a CNC machine might have been used, but I pretty much doubt it, not with all the slick jigs they have. I bet one or two of these guys have done this more than once.

Now THAT's expert woodworking. Thanks for the post. I was surprised to see how much hand carving there was on that, including some pretty great card scraper work that seemed to bring out the grain in the sides of the bass.

The more I do, the less I accomplish.

Great video Theo. I love to watch how beautiful things are made.

Yep, pretty awe-inspiring, or at least you should be awed. But, I think overall that this is my favorite, or close to it, of all the how it's made videos out there.

I have said a few times that if you are setting out to make one of something then think about making two of them, with jig making and cutting many things the same size then making more than one is easier than making one, you get the extra ones made at the same time and selling them will pay for your time and materials. Nice video. N

Very interesting, indeed. I too am impressed by the amount of hand work involved but am equally surprised by the amount of glue left on the inside. I know it's not like an acoustic guitar build where that becomes one of the standards to be met on higher quality builds. If there's glue squeeze out inside then it falls a couple of notches by most counts.

Still, a good video and appears to be a well made instrument.

Another fascinating video showing a great deal of skill. I think the terrible choice of music at the end was a poor choice.
