Default Since when is a poker table an oval?

Been a long while since I played poker, and then it was either at a kitchen table, or four footlockers stacked two high and covered with a blanket. Been thinking about making a poker table, just for the heck of it, so started looking for plans, to get some ideas of what I wanted to do. And the first two plans I found were of oval tables.

Who the heck wants an oval poker table? Not me. I considered a round table, like you saw in old westerns, or an octagon table. I like the octagon table a lot more. I've already got an idea of how to make one, but don't want to reinvent the wheel, so went to check out some plans, just in case I missed something. And I come up with an oval table. Bah.

A friend had a dining room table custom made just before he shipped back to the States, from Bangkok. He wanted a top that lifted off, with an octagon poker table under it, so it wouldn't take up extra room. I saw it when it was finished. It was lovely, and lovely work. Solid teak, which is the equivalent of pine there, or at least it was at the time - my then sister-in-law had a two story house made of solid teak, because it was cheap. Bit of a misunderstanding in the translation of the instructions tho. The removable top fit beautiful, and lifted off easily. Problem was, the lovely poker table was made as part of the removable top. To use it as a dining room table, you had to remove the top. Funny, he was the only one who didn't find that amusing. Loved Bangkok.

A few minutes ago found this sight. Free table plans of about any type poker table there is apparently. So I'll give this a shot. They make their money selling poker products, so should have good plans.
