Great idea Harry butttt... the wrong clamp. How are you going to open/close the clamp? You'd have to be very close to the needed opening to start or the handle won't turn far at all. Maybe use a F style clamp?

The upper photo doesn’t match the lower photo. I can see how the lower shows a clamp that could work.

Actually, both of the pictures show usable clamping aids. A wood hand clamp would work well with both. These could also be made adjustable so the could be used on different projects.
