Default Jerry Bowen

It has been quite an ordeal, getting back on the forum that is. I had to have a tech come out to the house to get things working again, the tech simply struck F4 and charged me $35 and the problem went away. I sure am not very sharp on computers, land for that matter, quite a few other endeavors for that matter.

I don't have much in the way wood working wisdom to bring to teh forum, A couple of member of the forum have urged me to get back on the forum so here I am.

I do have wood working question to ask, my brother has gotten back into bowl turning, should say is trying to do so. He and his wife are in a RV park fr the winter in Yuma. At the park there is a work working shop and most of the people that use the shop are turners and they all seem to use sleds for cutting their segments for segmented bowls. I have ordered an Incra 1000HD for him to use and to find out if the miter gauge works at least as well as a sled and hopefully even better in that he won't have have to build more than one sled.

The miter gauge has gotten lost in transit and Woodcrafters is sending a second one out, to my brother and it supposed to arrive next Monday by UPS.

I guess that I am wondering if anybody has any comments on my decision to have my brother try the miter gauge. If your comments are negative, uh, maybe you should not post back to me, just let me find out on my won if I have made a mistake, just joking.

I'm still dealing with my illness, should say my opioid addiction, it's the pits. I have been confined to my bed for the most part since the heart surgery about three and a half years agol.. If I had know about the potential addiction I sure would not have let my doctor get me on them.

If anybody on the forum is dealing with a similar condition, I'd like to exchange notes with them. Actually I sincerely hope that NOBODY will be dealing with this horrible addiction.

Anyway, I'll try to think of something to write about in the future, perhaps a question from a member or two will create a reason to write back, but for now, hello to all and hope that everyone that reads this will have the best holiday season possible.

Jerry

Good to see you back Jerry. One of the reasons to use a sled is that, if well constructed, it will slide down the miter slot without wobbling left or right. Two runners works even better that way. I think the Incra comes with the ability to tighten the bar in the miter slot to eliminate the slop so if properly adjusted I would expect the HD1000 to work well. If I remember right it scored well in an FWW tool test a few years ago.

As for setting up a shortcut it's been a while since I did one. I did a quick search and came up with this: https://www.digitalcitizen.life/how-create-shortcuts which makes it seem complicated. It implies that we need to know what operating system you are using on your computer. If you can tell me that I will try and wade through the info to see what needs to be done.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

At the top of the page is the address bar. It should start with https:///www.routerforums.com. Go to the main forum page. Then use your mouse to highlight the address and drag it onto your desktop. That should create the shortcut.
