Default Unbelievable prices.

Hard to believe. I was cruising craigslist awhile ago, and lo and behold, found a listing of pallets for sale. At $10 per pallet. The guy has to be somewhat nuts, off his meds, or something. I can get free pallets, all day log, all I have to do is pick them up. So cannot imagine how this guy thinks he can make money selling pallets. And likely he got the pallets for free.

I usually carry several mechanical pencils in my shirt pocket, and take a sketch book with me when I go out. All told there over half a dozen pencils whole erasers are worn down too far to use, or have popped out and lost. So I figured I'd by some replacement erasers, after all they can't cost much. Hah. I found erasers all right, but all of different sizes, so I can't be sure which, if any, will fit the mostly Bic pencils I have. Oh, I could have figured it out eventually, but why bother? I found out I can buy a two dozen pack of new mechanical pencils for less than the cost of five erasers. Fortunately I have other erasers I can use, so won't have to toss perfectly good pencils just because they have no eraser. I've got a flip phone thats in a similar situation. It's a flip phone I got years ago for around $6 (that's six) and if I ever need to replace the battery, a new battery will cost me about 3 times the cost of a new phone.

Life is very puzzling at times.

The gas costs, the pallets don't.

Depends on how you look at it. I don't make trips to just pickup pallets. I only get out to run errands, so time, and wear and tear on the truck, would happen anyway. I pick up pallets on errand runs that I would have to make regardless. The value of the wood in the pallets far outweigh the 5 or 10 minutes I spend loading them. So, as far as I'm concerned, free pallets.

Like the saying, "There's no such thing as a free puppy." The wife and I kept a stray puppy- cost $200 within three days of keeping him. I don't even touch pallet wood. Retired truck driver said he saw too many things spilled on them.
