My daughter installed "what's app" on my phone so she could reach me in an emergency. She left for Africa end of February. Flew to Ethiopia ,same plane as that that crashed there a week later. Climbed Kilamanjaro in Tanzania and backpacked from country to country for 73 days. Left Capetown a few days ago and is now in Paris. God knows what's next. I want to get this app off my phone. In runs down very quickly. Google is updating their stuff daily and I can't stop it. I'm constantly charging it. Never was like this until this app.

Thomas - if your daughter installed the app, it is easily disabled or removed - if you have an Android phone, go to "settings" then "apps" and look through the list for the name of the app. When you select it you will have two options, probably "force stop" or "disable" and possibly "uninstall". If you're on an iPhone, then you're on your own - I have an Android.

If the app came preinstalled with the phone, then the best you can hope for, as far as I know, is to disable it as the preinstalled apps are harder to uninstall.

The reason whats app is running your battery down is because its constantly telling the world where you are and who your friends are.
Just go surfing for "whatts app" and "spying on you"

Get rid of it asap.

I went into settings and I can see all the apps . I experimented and tapped "force stop" then on another I tapped "disable" . Each of these moves come with a warning. "If you disable or force stop an app other apps may misbehave" I force stopped one and I'll wait and see if this does anything wrong. I cant get rid of "What's App" app until my daughter gets home. I have no idea when that may be. She installed the app as the only way to reach her or her reach us. I don't have my phone turned on all the time. I just check it a few times a day to see if she's messaged us. She got to Paris a few days ago from Africa and mentioned England and Scandinavia before she returns. She's making the most of a few months. An unmarried 40 year old with no ties and a taste for travel. I have a Moto G phone which is Google so my OS is Android. Youth is wasted on the young.
