Default MICROSOFT: We Own Your A** !

Just received notification this morning that MS is 'changing their terms'.
Read the damn thing; it's pretty one-sided.
Below is the section that I specifically went looking for...
https://www.microsoft.com/en/service.../upcoming.aspx

"Your Content

2. Your Content. Many of our Services allow you to store or share Your Content or receive material from others. We don’t claim ownership of Your Content. Your Content remains Your Content and you are responsible for it.

a. When you share Your Content with other people, you understand that they may be able to, on a worldwide basis, use, save, record, reproduce, broadcast, transmit, share and display (and on HealthVault delete) Your Content without compensating you. If you do not want others to have that ability, do not use the Services to share Your Content. You represent and warrant that for the duration of these Terms, you have (and will have) all the rights necessary for Your Content that is uploaded, stored, or shared on or through the Services and that the collection, use, and retention of Your Content will not violate any law or rights of others. Microsoft does not own, control, verify, pay for, endorse or otherwise assume any liability for Your Content and cannot be held responsible for Your Content or the material others upload, store or share using the Services.
b. To the extent necessary to provide the Services to you and others, to protect you and the Services, and to improve Microsoft products and services, you grant to Microsoft a worldwide and royalty-free intellectual property license to use Your Content, for example, to make copies of, retain, transmit, reformat, display, and distribute via communication tools Your Content on the Services. If you publish Your Content in areas of the Service where it is available broadly online without restrictions, Your Content may appear in demonstrations or materials that promote the Service. Some of the Services are supported by advertising. Controls for how Microsoft personalizes advertising are available on the Security & privacy page of the Microsoft account management website. We do not use what you say in email, chat, video calls or voice mail, or your documents, photos or other personal files to target advertising to you. Our advertising policies are covered in detail in the Privacy Statement."

Whether it's Microsoft, Facebook, or any other platform, when you put something out on the internet, you can't control what happens to it. Don't publish anything that could come back to bite you in the a**. The ship has sailed for most members on this forum, but for younger people, it is not uncommon, now for prospective employers to check your social media to see what you've done, or said.

Some folks call me Vince - other folks call me...........

Its a service, and you have to pay for a service somehow, somewhere.

I dont do any form of social media, and keep as low a profile as possible but the one thing that REALLY annoys me is the tag that says "see our privacy notice" which always says you aint got none, sucker.

But lets face it, would you rather go back to writing letters and waiting 4 weeks for a reply?

Watch what you say, it WILL come back to haunt you if you post negative stuff.

I don't use any of the "services" covered by the agreement. If you don't like the terms, don't use the services.

I don't, Gerry. But I still have Windows 7 as an OS...and the new 'Agreement' pretty much states that they WILL 'upgrade' my OS when and if they feel like it. They may not even tell me they're going to do it.
An "agreement " suggests that the party of the 2nd part had some input.
