Default A small change should make a big difference

A problem that I've had whilst bowl turning is that the gouge handles foul the rear panel. For some time I have intended to space the rear panel from the bench, a messy job, but yesterday, having immaculatised* the lathe and bench, it became obvious that all I had to do to gain another 2" was move the lathe as far forward as possible which gained me just on 2", perhaps now my bowl turning might just improve a little.

The lathe doesn't overly heavy, but is there enough bottom weight in the cabinet to compensate for the sift forward at the table?

More than enough weight in the cabinet to keep things stable Ronald, over the years I've often been told I make things to last a thousand years! I do however appreciate you thinking of that possibility.

Cool

Harry, immaculatised is not in my dictionary either, and that is the big one. Also, you don't have to be so pretentious and flamboyant that we don't know what you are saying. Only having a sixth grade education, I wood have understood "cleaned up." Masticate on that for awhile.

Harry, as you ruminate until you eventually pontificate and gesticulate on Dave's choice of masticate the pristine state of your lathe makes it look celibate. Go make some sawdust!

Guys, you're going to be a hard act to follow after that abundance of onomatopoeia.
