Default IMPORTANT REMINDER: No Politics/Controversial Discussions

Our off topic section is designed to be a place where we can escape from the crazy stuff in the world for a bit and build friendships.

It has never been a place to post controversial/political topics. Yes, I realize just about anything can be controversial these days, but we all know that some topics are just too controversial and will bring discord to the community.

There is no such thing as a good political post or thread ! everyone has a right to their own opinion and if we don't share it, then that's too bad !

Don't fear your tools, pay attention and respect the tools and avoid injury.

Thank you. I find political/controversial posts annoying even when I agree with them. I think it has to do with a particular crochet of mine: after almost 30 years as an editor and writer, grammatical and syntactical errors jump out at me, and very few posts on this or any other forum are up to my standards.

However, when the post involves a forum's focus--in this case woodworking, I'm willing to abandon being the expert; I'm not here to correct the prose of the people I'm learning from. But when the subject is some random rant where the poster's expertise is questionable and not related to woodworking, my inner critic goes into high gear.

Whack those moles hard!

There are two choices either you are interested in a post or you are not interested in a post. If you are interested then you can either read it or not read it. If you want to respond then you can respond (or should be able to respond) or you can ignore it. If you don't read it then you will have no idea what it's about so you won't be offended. If you read it and respond then you are now in a conversation with other adults. You may or may not agree with what is being said but that is what a conversation is. You can't have it both ways. You can't say you hate certain types of posts and then get involved with those same types of posts only to say that you don't want to see those posts.
