Though he preferred being called a woodworker, he was an artist nonetheless. He is a legend no doubt about it.

May he rest in peace.

For those of you new to woodworking and not familiar with who Sam Maloof is might be interested in viewing this 13 part video series of an interview with Sam demonstrating his techniques on making furniture with the band saw and talking about his life. Sam was an innovator and a genius in woodworking, not to mention an artist. If I could only be as active and productive as he was at the age of 93. May you rest in peace, Sam. You will be missed.

Hi All,

This is truly sad for us remaining behind and his family. It is a wonderful thought however to think about his rich life, his legacy and how many people's life he has touched because of his exquisite art form.

The world today is a little less rich than it was yesterday.

Ed......:-)

Thank you for the link, I have saved it. I watched just a moment of part 4. To watch him you know he is more than a master; he is a man with a passion for wood and turning into something more that furniture. If anyone needs an explanation, I sorry, I cannot help you. Could you imagine being around someone like that for a year, a month, a day? I know a man like that but his passion is in a different area. He has been my mentor since 1967. He is in his 90's also and will pass and his passing shall be felt by many around the world/
