Default I don't believe in free lunches

and so when a friend brought me a piece of Perspex a couple of days ago to make an illuminated router base, I decided to make his wife a cutting board.

This evening a friend brought me this LED light assy. which he paid $1.00 for a while back at a car boot sale, it contains 12 bright white LED's. It's interesting in as much as it isn't polarity sensitive which make me assume that it will work on AC and is probably a replacement for Halogen down lights which run VERY hot and cause many house fires over here. Before hitting it with a hammer so that I can retrieve the 12 LED's, I'm going to try it in our kitchen where we have several Halogen down lights.

Here are the missing cutting board shots, for some odd reason I couldn't add them to the original post.

Is Skydd white mineral oil what you typically use on cutting boards? It looks like you can only get that at Ikea here in the states.

You're spot on Paulo, mine came from Ikea here in Australia. Using mineral oil on wood that will contact food is what fellow members have led me to believe is the way to go.

I thought it was a metal ring at first also, but if you look again it's the Perspex (Acrylic here in the states) peice Harry is talking about.
Harry:

That cutting board looks great, I wish I had that much free time.

What am I to do with you James, you get so excited with my pictures that you don't read the words, as Danny said, it's the piece of Acrylic material given to me by a friend for me to make an illuminated router base that led me to make the cutting board for his wife in appreciation, hence the title of the thread, "I don't believe in free lunches"

Stand in the corner for ten minutes.
