Default lowes and hitachi tools

i have been in our local lowes a few times in the past few months and am overdue for a visit.

thae last couple of times i was there, they had hitachi power tools on clearance.

im wondering if lowes is ditching the hitachi tools.

these big box stores seem to change brands every couple of years, especially lowes.

I've noticed that too Levon... I was wondering if it was just here in Anchorage.

Do you think they are trying to avoid a head-to-head war with the brands that home depot carries?

hi Jim

i think lowes may have trouble competing with the guarantee hd gives on the ridgid. they keep searching for something that will increase their sales. the hitachi tools didnt sell very well at our lowes . i think its cause lots of people knew nothing about them.

- I picked up a Hitachi brad nailer for 50$ at Lowes on sale for a project at the time. Its a dandy little 'tacker' and works a treat! I too knew nothing about Hitachi guns (long time Senco user) but would buy another Hitachi product if the need arises.

- there are a few customer reviews at Amazon >> Hitachi NT50AE2 3/4 ~ 2" brad nailer

howdy levon,

I think you're right. Hitachi, while making pretty good routers, doesn't have the name recognition with the general public that PC, Bosch and others have.

On sale here also. My cordless driil is standing up with my dewalt, no problems at all. Both have been tortured daily.

Thank You Veterans

Personal opinion: Hitachi is about as underated a tool company I have ever seen. I have their router, M12vc, 10 in mitre saw and 18 g stapler. All top notch tools. Only complaint would be they are a little funky to get accys for. Had to order router edge guide directly from them (although I heard later that PC fits) but it came with the guide bushings. Still haven't found extension brackets for the mitre saw. Not much in accessories I need for a stapler. Might start looking for their table saw, my Ryobi ticked me off again this afternoon.

The problem with experience is I usually get it immediately after I need it.

Levon, I have noticed that Lowes has some strange clearance policies. I picked up a Dewalt planer a there while back. They were on clearance including the display. At the same time the Delta 14" bandsaw was also being cleared out. A week later the were stocked back up with the same models at full price.
