Default Re inventing the wheel again

For some time I have seen cabinets/desks /cupboards and the like with magnificent drawers, crafted to perfection with dovetailed ends, french polished to a high lustre that would make you green with envy.....only to find the drawer runners are some chrome, inexpensive item not in keeping with the standard of workmanship with the case. What about drawer runners made of timber?...not those constucted with wooden rectangular profiles, but two concave/convex pieces running inside each other, in keeping with the workmanship of the piece. With the availability of router bits we have, this would be a fairly simple exercise???? Over to you people for your respective thoughts, Regards.........AL

Al, as you know, I gave up reinventing the wheel years ago. The drawers on all my very early projects slid on a strip of Laminex at each side, nothing showing and worked well!
