Default Playing podcasts on PC

Hey, I know this is a woodwork router forum and not a IT router forum, but I will ask this question anyway.......

I am no longer surprised at the depth of knowledge of the members....

I have downloaded some pod casts through the ITunes store "woodworking on Line" etc and last week I downloaded a DVD from Fine wooworking "basic box making".

The file come out as .mp4 files.

When I play the files in either ITunes or Quicktime, the video playback pauses
and stops while the sound continues on for a few seconds.

Not an issue with a free podcast but not when I pay for a download DVD.

Does any one else have this problem..

I will also search the ITunes Q& A to sse if I can find an answer.

James

A great free player I use is: VideoLAN - VLC media player - Open Source Multimedia Framework and Player

It should play mp4's nicely.

As stated above - VLC, I use it to play mp4 (in fact it will play just about any format).

Right-click on the file name and choose another "Open with" program that might already be installed.

Yeah I also have this issue with .MP4 for some reason it seems like 9 times out of 10 the audio and the video are out of sync i also use VLC player I cant even watch it at that point I can handle poor video quality but when the guys mouth is moving then 2-3 seconds later you hear him speak it drives me nuts lol.

Dont forget to live life for fear of death grasp each day and live it to it full otherwise it is pointless.

thanks Mark.

I tried it last night and it seemed to work great..

Now I will try and put the 3 MP4 files through my video editing program and see if i can make one movie of the files.

Thanks, Mike.

I did that and ITunes or Quicktime seem to be the only programs I had that would recognize the MP4 format.

Realplayer would play the audio but not the video.

i agree Paul,

In my case, not only were they out of sync, the video would pause while audio kept going, then the video would jump to catch up.

Here's another option. I've used this program to convert full length movies to something I can watch on my cell phone. It's a really great program that works with most every file type known.
