Talking Thanks Harry

Many members may not be aware that my "better half", Maree and I recently flew to the other side of Australia (Perth) for a short vacation.

During the time in West Australia (WA), I had the great pleasure to call in and meet with our Harry and his lovely wife, Marlene.

I can report with all honesty that Harry is not a two headed ogre, but a very pleasant fellow of the top order.

After a light lunch, Harry and I adjourned to the "shed" for a conducted tour and then a tour of Rockingham, WA.

It was akin to a visit to a hallowed site.

Harry, as befits a man of such generosity, presented me with a set of skis he made to suit one of his recent articles.

Sorry, if I embarrass you Harry, but I just wanted to make a public thank you.

Hope to see you back on the forum shortly.

What great fun that must have been. You may have been lucky to catch him at home. I hear he travels a lot with his job as World Ambassador for the Metric System.

Hi James

Sounds like you had a great trip and had the pleasure of meeting Harry.

I think Harry as well many others on this site have two heads,,,,, the knowledge they possess could not be stored in just one head.

Glad you had a great vacation.

John,

I can assure you that Harry has only one. It is just that he uses what's inside more than most...

Gee whiz James you're just too kind. It really was a great pleasure to have you and Maree spend some time with us. You failed to mention the time I spent sucking up every speck of sawdust in preparation for your visit, I even postponed the project that I've just posted until after your visit! I believe that there were rumours that we were expecting a Royal visit, which I suppose it was! Our friendship made on the forum does illustrate one of several benefits posting some details about oneself.
On the "other" forum, amongst the initial greetings was one from a man here in Rockingham, I open posted my email address to which he replied. We have now met and it's amazing what I learned, we are aged only five years difference, he has lived in Rockingham 9 years, we 8 years, he previously lived in Thornlie only five minutes walk from where we lived and we both have backgrounds in electronics. He has been using fixed skis for some time but from next week will have shiny end threaded rods!

James glad to hear how much you and Maree fun you had. Just like me and Brian and Kathy stopped in to see me and Nancy. Not to mention the joyous visit from Chippypah aka Pete and his wife Toni. Knowing where you are from and then coming to see you at your location is fabulous. Considering you email, chat, and meet up with such nice people over the internet especially when you me up with guys like Harry off the forum you just have so much in common and you can learn so much from one and other. Like when Pete and Brian came to see me we didn't do a thing in the shop but both explained how to do something for a project that they both helped out.

Don't you hide

Maree and I planned a trip to the US next November and your address was on the list.

We have now decided to make it May 2011 so we will be there in late Spring.

PS I DO expect to see you shop....... But you don't have to bring in Nancy's vac to clean up Harry did......
