Default Interesting times ahead for Australia

It was announced in this mornings press that that the joint venture between Lowes and our Woolworth's chain stores has accelerated it's programme and has already purchased several sits and building has begun. This new chain of big box stores will be in competition with our Bunnings and the smaller Mitre 10 hardware chains. Hopefully we will see new brands of power tools, metric of course which will no doubt become readily available in the US and so be the start of full blown metrication in the US!

Harry,

Woolworths have already bought out John Danks and Sons:

This will be their wholesale supplier.

Danks services around 600 independently owned and operated retailers who are members of Danks’ marketing groups Home Timber & Hardware, Thrifty-Link Hardware and Plants Plus Garden Centres and more than 1200 non affiliated stores nationally.

I believe they are going to convert Thrifty-Link or Home Timber to the new JV.

Could you narrow the search for me, I can't find what you refer to Peter.

You rang? :-)

Running a search for Lowes Leading the De-Metrication of Australia on their website returns nothing useful. I suspect a leg pull !

Cheers
