I never got a response from my grandfather, who he voted for. He was in the one of the two, and came out right before we entered WWII, then about a year or two in, he was drafted by the other. But he was of the generation that didn't talk of it much.

James, today the ARMY/Navy football game was played. College football is very popular here with schools offering scholarships to attract the best athletes. This is different. Everyone who plays in this game is in training to become an officer in the US armed forces. They do this in addition to the intensive education requirements. Most of the players have average skills; it is rare for the really athleticly gifted to attend these schools. For this game many play beyond their abilities; such is the competition between ARMY and Navy. Playing for West Point or "Canoe U" in addition to earning an acadamy ring is usually an indicator that the person will go far in life. They do not play for money, they play for honor. The Super Bowl is nice but this game is the only important one. Congrats to all the players for a battle well fought.

How come the RAF is known as the Senior Service? Where does the American air force fit in"?
