Default Announcement: I am hanging out my shingle!

Well I finally began sending out info that my one man custom millwork shop is open for business. It's not pretty right now, but I'll plug away at that through the winter and as the weather warms, and soon enough it'll be what it's supposed to be. I hope to be busy with custom profile and reproduction trim, and also cabinet doors, maybe some smaller items as well. Nothing big right now, I need to keep it small fast and efficient. I've chosen the name of "Vintage Wood", as I hope to be creating profiles of many of the older style trims and matching doors for many of the older homes in and around the area.

Good luck Jack. Many years ago I used to go to an auction house in Portland that specialized in estate antiques from Europe. Many really nice pieces went dirt cheap because they were missing some of the trim.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

Congratulations Jack and the best of luck to you.
Don't forget to make time for yourself and your family.
Trust me the work will still be there the next day.

All the very best to you Jack, I won't wish you good luck because luck really has nothing to do with success, the way you treat your customers, the quality of your work and your honesty are the factors that make the difference between a successful and a failed business.
