Default I apologise

I apologise for the poor production of my latest forum video. I'll explain how they are produced.
After deciding on a project, I make the templates followed by the making of the item, stopping after each operation to take photographs. When completed, I sort through the photographs to decide which to use and which to discard. following this I add explanatory text after which each shot goes through Photoshop to adjust brightness, contrast, colour balance and sharpness. I then have each shot in turn on the screen and write a script, followed by recording an audio track for each shot. All this takes a great deal of time before I email all the files to Mike, who in turn sends them on to Rick for production of the video. On this occasion, for whatever reason, Rick appears to have simply slapped the files together with no attempt at editing, by which I mean inserting fades between shots, adjusting audio levels and length of time that each shot remains.
The lack of professionalism towards this video leads me to believe that I'm wasting my time.

Greetings Harry, first of all I would like to say you have nothing to apologies for, the content and audio in your videos is absolutely perfect. I agree with you that the video could use some improvements with the production value.

If anyone is to blame it is me, my father (Rick) has recently been swamped with work and I asked him to do me the favor of putting the video together for the April newsletter. As a result he did his best to put the video together in the tight deadline I put upon him. Regardless, it is no excuse for the result.

Over this upcoming weekend we will be fixing the production value of the video and making improvements to the transition.

I would like to officially say sorry for how the video turned out and I'm sorry if this reflects poorly upon you. We will fix this.

Harry, not everyone is retired and has unlimited time to work on these. This was a rush job to meet the deadline for the newsletter. You already know the reasons why.

Mike, please don't be so defensive. As I explained earlier when I spoke to you and Mark, the reasons for the post were twofold, firstly to let members know what is involved in the making of these videos and secondly I knew that a response would be forthcoming.
I used the phrase "for whatever reason" meaning that I appreciated that there must have been a reason. Also, when I said that I send the files to you for passing on to Rick, I assumed that members would understand that you actually do something with the files, like checking that I haven't left anything out or made glaring errors, otherwise I would surely email the files direct to Rick.
So, in summary I think that I have achieved the desired end result plus perhaps more members will view the video out of curiosity, but be quick before the new version is released! This is probably a good opportunity to ask members to produce their own projects for making into a video, all members have been asked to do this but so far only Mike and myself appear to have come forward.

Near the top of the home page there are three boxes, Account settings, Forum community then Woodworking videos, click on the latter.

Harry, I watched your newest video and I understand your complaints. The content is superb, as I expected it to be.So on one point I have to disagree with you; you are not wasting your time. However I do have to agree that the final production quality is less than what it should be. I do find the abrupt change from one photo to the next and the lack of adjustment of the audio levels to be jarring and distracting. I do hope that the final production work does get done and a finished version replaces the one now posted, and that it does get done soon. Many router beginners, and many wanting to expand their expertise, will learn much from it, and with professional quality finishing, as you want, it will be very good. So Harry, please don't stop making these videos. I already want to see the next one.

I do appreciate your kind comments Tom. I know that Rick will be taking great care with the re-make, now that everyone knows it is he who does the the production!
I've been working on a project aimed at the more experienced routologists, the almost 70 photographs have been edited and text added but it could be a couple of weeks before the audio tracks are recorded. The project is the black lacquered French style balloon clock shown in this photograph.

Default poor video quality

The most obvious lack of professionalism is not the video but the public chastisment of a fellow worker ! This should have been settled privately. A brief - no names - explanation to the public would have been enough. Lets not have the "junk yard dog" attitude. It belittles you.
