Default Info on pop up blocker..

I had complained about getting so many pop ups on my computer to one the members of this forum, he and I communicate regularly. He is a pretty knowledgable guy on lots of things. Now I know that many of the members on this forum are very savvy about computers and already know about what I have found thanks to my friend.

This is applicable to Internet Explorer only as far as I know, but if you too are being plagued with pop ups try this, Open Enternet Explorer and click on tools near the top the page and when the drop down window opens find and highlight pop up blocker. In my case the blocker was already turned on but when I clicked on settings I saw that the setting was on medium. I changed this to the high setting and the pop up quit coming up, but at that setting, I cannot do a web search or get a link to respond, I am going to leave the setting on high until I need to do a web searchand then simply switch back to the medium setting until I finish the search and then go back to the hight setting, Hope this help anybody that is having the problems that I have been having, and for you that know more about computers than I do, just bare with me and ignore this thread.

Maybe one of the mods could move this to the Lobby?

Smile Ad Blocker

Try using Google Chrome. It's less problematic than I.E. and you can add their "Ad Blocker" which blocks pop-up ads but still allows you to do everything else. It's all free and it works.

Firefox with adblock and/or flashblock works for me.

I have found that hand tools are the best choice when I want to make mistakes at a slower rate of speed.

I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

Default Firefox

I haven't used Explorer in years except to compare it to Firefox.
Firefox has a great ad blocker, by far better than Firefox.
Plus Firefox is much faster than Explorer - I have a fast machine so easy to compare.
There are a lot more add-ons for Firefox that are very useful.

Ron,
My wife has Firefox on her computer, but it is running on Windows Eight, do you know anything about how to access that blocker on eight. We can't find it and would sure to know if you can help.
